This month’s Tazzu Spotlight member is Peter, known as pkthree at Tazzu.
Typically a man of few words in the Tazzu Forums, I was delighted to his colorful responses to the questions I asked him.
Rather than rework the ‘interview’ I’ve simply copy and pasted it so we get the full meal deal – Peter Keung is in the house!!

1) Where were you born and – how did you find your way to Vancouver?
I was born in Mississauga, Ontario but I only think about it as the place where Kleenex tissue paper was or is made. My dad worked in banking, so he took the family along as he got transferred to Burnaby, then to Vancouver Island, then to Quesnel, and finally back to the Lower Mainland, where we settled. I attended the last few years of elementary school here, then also high school and university. So I don’t have many memories from before I moved here. Now that I’m old enough to decide where I want to live, I’ve already been spoiled by Vancouver, which will be hard to top.
2) Tell us briefly about your family (parents? number of siblings?)
My dad was born in Hong Kong and my mom is from Singapore, but interestingly enough, they met in Wales. By now they’ve spent more than half of their lives in Canada. I have an older brother and I used to always want to do everything he was doing. He always beat me in basketball and tennis. I figure I now have the upper edge in hockey, but he doesn’t play hockey…

Well, 2008 has left the building, and 2009 is in the house! Happy New Year Tazzu, and thank you for a fantastic 2008!!
Here is a brief 2008 recap:
Tazzu either sponsored or hosted…
- * Several Networking Events
- * Joomla DemoCamp
- * Joomla DocCamp
- * Vancouver JoomlaDay
- * Vancouver WordCamp (WordPress)
The Tazzu forum now has over 350 users with over 15,000 posts.
What lies ahead for Tazzu in 2009?
The development of the new infrastructure for Tazzu 2.0 is still well underway. This newly developed version will offer more enhanced collaboration and networking tools for community members. We’ve not set a date yet as to when it will be released… we’ll keep you in suspense a little longer.
Requests have been made for more learning opportunities re: WordPress and Joomla CMS
Rastin and I will be meeting tomorrow to discuss other ideas… so stay tuned.
Once again Happy New Year Tazzu, may this year bring each of us much success and happiness!
Whichever greeting you are most comfortable with, we want to wish you all the best of it!

May you enjoy the excitement of getting together with loved ones, share many laughs, and get your fill of all the wonderful foods you like to eat this time of year.

Also, let’s not forget about those less fortunate than us. Maybe drop off some food to the Food Bank, visit someone who is house-bound, or give a special donation to the Salvation Army.
If we all just do one thing, we may be able bring a smile to someone’s face this Christmas who usually struggles this time of year.
We are truly blessed – lets spread it around. Have a Blessed and Merry Christmas!

Well, no-one can say I’m guilty of staying on top of things this winter! So much to do… so little time!
Very quickly, here’s a report on the last Tazzu Networking event of the year.
The turn out was fabulous considering it was for the most part planned on short notice. We booked the party room at Milestones in Yaletown, which is always nice. The room was set up for 24, and I believe 23 showed up…. sweet!!
The food was delicious of course. You can’t go wrong at Milestones. I had an amazing Shanghai noodle dish… so good! We also met new local business people – first time visitors from GoldenPinecone.com – really nice to have you out!! I’d try to mention everyone’s names, but I know I’d forget someone… you know who you are!
So… a GREAT BIG thank you to everyone who was able to join us on short notice! It was wonderful connecting with you again, sharing some laughs and catching up.
Again, thank you!
PS: If you’ve got any suggestions for locations, please let us know as we’d like to change it up a bit. Vegetarian would be a really nice change – yes??

Dear Tazzu Members,
As you may know, we’ve been doing some maintenance work on the Tazzu site.
We’ve just received word from several Tazzu members that the Tazzu forum has been emailing random Topic Reply Notifications out to members.
We sincerely apologize for this inconvenience, and are working on fixing this.
Thanks for your patience as Tazzu may experiences a few growing pains during its evolution!
