Tazzu is growing up!

A lot has been happening here at Tazzu in the last few weeks. Tazzu’s 1 year anniversary is coming up Sept. 01, and if you’ve been around since its inception, you know there has been a few changes since then!

New Branding and Marketing Strategy

Gone on a long journey is our green woolly monster, buh-bye! The new site colors and design reflect a more professional and smart style, which has been applied to each section of Tazzu, bringing greater consistency to the overall brand. Our logo (which I will blog about in more detail later) reflects the essence of Tazzu: Community, Intelligence, and Strength. We extend a great big thank you to Roberta Cottam (a current Tazzu member and Associate) for designing the logo to match our exact needs - you nailed it girl!

Front Page

Tazzu now has a more inviting front page for prospective members. Unlike some companies who use stock images of people shaking hands, we’ve decided to use actual photos of our members. We are so proud to have real members in our community and would like to communicate this principle. By the way, if you are uncomfortable with your photo rotating in the Tazzu slideshow please let us know and we will happily pull it out for you.

Technology Infrastructure

As part of Tazzu’s new developments, we chose to upgrade from phpBB2 to phpBB3. Along with this came some improved usability, administration, and moderation enhancements. Additionally, phpBB3 has a far cleaner software design when compared to the previous version.

In taking a small step towards becoming self-reliant, Tazzu is no longer running on BlueFur servers. We’ve moved all the applications to rmd Studio’s servers which enables us to develop and maintain all Tazzu’s current and future projects in one location. We would like to send many special thanks to Gary Jones and BlueFur for all their superb support and care while Tazzu was in its infancy. We will always be appreciative of this, and hope to be able to one day repay you.

While Tazzu is not yet 2.0, we are working towards more user centered collaborative features such as folksonomy, custom groups, feeds aggregation, user rating systems, community policing, and more elaborated user profiles.

Tazzu 2.0 will be based on the Anahita Community Builder project, which is a package of Open Source components currently under development by rmd Studio. In the mean time the current set-up will facilitate community growth, and help support the members prosper intellectually and financially.

Trademark

In January ‘07 we filed an application to trademark Tazzu. After months of wondering and waiting, we’ve finally received official notice that Tazzu’s trademark application has been approved and will be advertised in the Trade-Marks Journal shortly.

Thank you Tazzu Members!

These changes are just a small indication of the many more to come as we continue to develop Tazzu. We appreciate that for some members, change is a welcomed journey, for others it’s not as easy to adapt. We just wish to extend a huge thanks to everyone for all your patience and support through this time. You may expect continued development of our site - to further meet the needs of all our wonderful Tazzu members.

Long live Tazzunauts! :D
