Meeting our new neighbour

This past Monday, Rastin and I had the opportunity to sit down with Rob Lewis - the newly appointed President of Techvibes - over a cup of coffee at Calhoun’s.

We had a really nice visit.

Rob is a sincere and very likable guy, with a passion to restore Techvibes into the healthy and vibrant community it once was - and then some!

Conversation flowed with ease as we discussed the conception of Tazzu and development plans, as well as the resurrection of Techvibes and new marketing/networking strategies. Plans to rebuild Techvibes are well underway, with website clean-up already in progress.

The time flew by, and as our conversation rounded the finish line, we briefly touched on future possibilities of Techvibes and Tazzu collaborating in some way to support the members, and local small and medium size businesses.

One consideration was the possibility of implementing web APIs (and/or other tools) which would enable Tazzu and Techvibe members to cross-link their profiles. This Tazzu strategy would also extend to other web based communities such as Flickr, Facebook, and so on… giving members more options to further promote their businesses, share their expertise, and gain greater exposure.

Tazzu is moving towards a new social software platform, and Techvibes is undergoing a makeover. One thing is certain: both Tazzu and Techvibes will grow with the common goal of supporting their members, and providing new ways for the local business community to network and grow their business.

Building community together is a worthwhile endeavour. Even competitors can work together (notwithstanding everything I learned and discussed in Competition Policy). Looking forward to all the good things these dialogues bring.

It is great to see that Tazzu and Techvibes may venture together on some joint innitiatives. I truly believe that both sites will thrive from one another.

I look forward to seeing the changes that Techvibes brings to Tazzu and vice versa.

    Thanks Jer and Leah!
Tazzu and Techvibes have a common goal: to promote local businesses and see them prosper. If we have opportunity to collaborate on a project(s) that will facilitate this - then everyone wins!
