Welcome to our first Tazzu Member Spotlight.
May I introduce to you Leah - also known as techno.chic in the Tazzu Forums. Smart, funny and beautiful inside and out, Leah is a great asset to the Tazzu Community.
Leah and I have known each other for a while now, and first met on another forum where we were both Moderators. When questioned if she would be interested in moderating here at Tazzu, her response was a resounding ‘of course!’ - the rest is history.
Leah is a Network Administrator hailing from Surrey BC, but currently resides in Los Angeles CA with her newly-wed husband. Apart from hanging out with friends, another one of Leah’s passions is photography, specifically Architecture, Animals, and Gardens & Flowers. Be sure to visit her flickr account to view her beautiful photos.
A while back, I’d asked Tazzu members to give me their best tips for online networking. This particular tip, penned by Leah was too good to condense, so I’ve posted it here in it’s entirety. Thanks Leah for this insightful read!
Online Networking Tip: Professionalism
Professionalism according to Merriam-Webster “is the conduct, aims, or qualities that characterize or mark a profession or a professional person?
In any professional environment whether it is an online forum, place of employment, trade show, etc. it is always wise to maintain a comfortable level of professionalism.
People who are seen acting in a professional manner are usually held in higher regards by colleagues, fellow workers, fellow online community members etc.
It is completely appropriate for a professional to let loose and have fun, but you will notice that these professionals still maintain their professionalism while having fun.
For example:
A professional person within the Tazzu Forums, would use a professional logo or photo of themselves, include their business information and name in their signature – and any other information they feel would be beneficial to those who read their signature.
Their attitudes towards fellow members would always remain professional - whether or not they agree with the topic at hand. They also tend to remain neutral as they are able to analyze and identify both sides of a topic.
Posts written by a person, who possesses professional qualities, usually ensure that their tone is neutral (to try not to offend any of their readers). Their use of language is usually always proper and they rarely use slang. They express professionalism and try to maintain relevancy within the forum they are posting. This also includes replies to other members’ questions for assistance. A professional will not usually offer advice or assistance if they do not have an answer; very rarely will a professional person use smart remarks when responding to a post.
A person who possesses professionalism does not judge others based on their personal nor professional beliefs, and are always open to welcoming and meeting new people.

Thanks for all you kind words Jen, you’re making me blush!
I have to say I feel really honored to be the first member in the Tazzu spotlight…even more so than being geek of the week at TV in my first week as a member
When Jen asked the Tazzu forum members for a ideas to compile the top 10 networking tips I chose to write about professionalism. The reason I chose this topic was because all successful people always possess some level of professionalism at all times.
Professionalism sometimes gets pushed aside during the busyness of everyday life, therefore I thought it would be a good reminder to include professionalism in Tazzu’s Top 10 Networking Tips.
Thanks again!
Cheers,
Leah
lol @ geek o’ the week - it really does feel good to be recognized.
That’s why Rastin and I are going to try and spotlight Tazzu members on a regular basis.
Each member has a story, an expertise, a hobby, award, or something they can share with us that we don’t know about. Doubt if we’ll hear about that trip to Vegas, but bring on the rest!
Getting to know each other better is a fun way to develop relationships, whether they be business related or just great friendships.
Your article was insightful, thanks again for sharing!
